2016-06-12 - Part model update
There was a major update under the hood. Now BrickMesh is
able to fully decompose your upload into pieces and re-assemble
it again. This means for more complicated pieces like a minifig
upper body the most appropriate combination will be mapped.
2016-03-18 - BrickMesh is online
The first version of the BrickMesh demo is available online.
Please try it to order bricks for your models. Features:
- Reads LEGO® Digital Designer files.
- Easy conversion of your model to a wanted list.
- Knows over 2000 bricks. This covers most brick categories, but not all.
- Knows about 100 colors.
- Estimates the weight of your order.
- Read the LDraw format.
- Read the wanted list format.
- Support adding and subtracting lists or models.
- Support for almost all LDD bricks.
Rebrickable
Rebrickable
is by far the most popular source of LEGO® creations
over the net. It has plenty of high quality
MOCs
from top model designers. You can find free and paid models,
large and small in various themes.
EuroBricks
EuroBricks
has its own collection of selected LDD models that are available
for download.
Google
Last but not least, you can use your
favorite search engine
to discover LDD models all over the web.
What is BrickMesh?
BrickMesh is a tool to order real LEGO® bricks for your
digital models. It supports
LEGO Digital Designer
models and turns them into a BrickLink
wanted list.
You can use BrickLink to find the best shops for the list.
Why do we need BrickMesh?
The beauty of LEGO® is that people can find amazing things
that you never expected. However, ordering bricks for aftermarket
models continues to be difficult for non-hardcore enthusiasts.
BrickMesh tries to make this easier.
Is LEGO® Digital Designer still supported?
Yes, LEGO® Digital Designer is still supported. There were
rumors
that LEGO® does not support it any more. After a long hiatus
4.3.9 was released on March 14, bringing in long awaited part updates
and bug fixes.
Are other LEGO® editors supported?
There are other good editors, a lot of them based on the
LDraw part library, such as
LDCad,
MLCad and
BrickSmith.
These are not supported at the moment, but we plan to add support in the near
future if there is sufficient demand.
Where do I get models?
We encourage you to download
LEGO Digital Designer
and build your own. You can also get a few ideas on the
Discover page.
What LEGO® parts and colors does it support?
It knows about 100 colors and over 1000 parts. New parts are added all the
time.
How does BrickMesh work?
BrickMesh has its own part database and logic that is open source.
The source is available on GitHub:
https://github.com/Dornbi/brickmesh
https://github.com/Dornbi/brickmesh
Are there any limits?
It will not work for large models containing a lot of bricks.
What information are you collecting about users?
We use Google Analytics to track the usage of the website itself.
We may also keep uploaded LDD models for up to 180 days so that
parts and colors with incomplete information can be fixed. Your models
will be deleted after that. Your data is private, BrickMesh will never
make the models available to third parties.
Who runs this site?
By a LEGO® enthusiast in his spare time.
You can email him here.
